Contest Outline

Code for Gender, Code for Growth is a global movement that utilizes technology as a basis to bridge communities of diverse and to establish a gender friendly technology ecological system.

To support fresh graduates as well as career transferring females for the next 10 years, Womany is partnering with Google to host the CFG event with the hopes of implementing technology in order to provide guidance for female workplace talents in the midst of a blistering technology transforming world.

Womany is inviting participants to join and exchange technical skill sets to inspire creativity and innovations within our community. By implementing open source and data, participants are encouraged to identify gender inequality issues in fields ranging from workplaces, campuses, family to digital network communities. Participants will provide a series of proposals and solutions during the contest. By the end of the contest, 10 groups will be selected as the finalists to enter and join our Hackathon final presentation in September.

Three Highlights of the Contest

Variety of Rewards

In addition to the prize, participants will be able to conduct exclusive in-depth discussions about workplace environment and workplace culture with team members from Google Champion as well as Womany.

To Build connections with Google

A limited number of participants will be able to participate in Google Office Hour. Team members from Google will further conduct an in person consultation and critique in order to receive better feedback for the contest proposal.

Free of Charge

No fees will be charged for the contest. In addition, any office hour during the competition will be free of charge as well. We are looking forward to reviewing your final proposal and witnessing your creativity!

  • Google Rewards
    Participants will be joining team members from Google Champion and conduct an in-depth discussion on selected themes. Through questioning and exchange of information, participants will have a further understanding of the workplace culture in Google as well as the most recent experiments / innovations that Google is promoting now.
  • Womany Rewards
    1. Participants will conduct a 30 minutes discussion with team members from Womany in order to have a well-rounded understanding of Womany’s workplace environment and culture.

    2. Participants will be provided with exclusive Code for Gender courses, allowing individuals to continue communicate with Womany after the contest.

  • Alfred Rewards
    1. Free Alfred Camera Premium 12-month subscription.

    2. Award winner will be able to participate in a discussion with team members from Alfred System Inc in order to have an in-depth understanding on how Alfred System transformed used smart phones into high resolution CCTV, establishing a world-class security system in the midst of the pandemic.

Four award-winning works are scheduled to be selected for this event. Judging committee may increase or decrease the number of award-winning entries in accordance with the situation during the contest.

  • Participants are required to propose a solution to solve gender related issues through the implementation of Program, Prototype or Product based on research from one of the fields below:

Contest Timeline

    Registration deadline
    Online Registration and Submission
    Registrations are open from June 16th, 2021 to August 8th, 2021 (23:59 UTC+8)
    Step 1 : Carefully read through the rule of thumb for the contest.
    Step 2 : Form a team and fill up each participant's information. Teams that are successfully registered will be further invited to join the 2021 CFG Facebook exclusive group, receiving first handed information about the event.
    Step 3 : submit your work for the first round contest and complete the registration.

    Each team should have at least 2 members and with no more than 6 members. Please make sure the accuracy of the information filled on the application.

    Finalist Announcement
    10 nominations are scheduled to be selected on August 23rd, 2021 to enter the Finals.
  • 8/24
    Google Office Hour Resource
    Google Office Hour will be open for registration from August 24th, 2021 to September 3rd, 2021.
    Teams nominated for the finals will be able to conduct an online discussion / critique with Google’s team members. The application is scheduled to be uploaded on August 24th, 2021. Order of the discussion group will be arranged in accordance with the registration orders.

Eligibility and Team Regulations

  1. Each team should consist of at least 2 members and 6 members at most.
  2. A Leader should be assigned to each team.
  3. Team leaders should be responsible to stay in touch with the event committee as well as ensuring the accuracy of all information submitted.
  4. Each team member must be at least 18 years old.
